Staff Accountant
Downtown Austin, TX | $65K–$75K | Full-Time | Hybrid (2–3 Days On-Site)

As the Staff Accountant, you'll be an integral part of the accounting team, supporting financial reporting, maintaining general ledgers, and managing AP/AR functions across a diverse portfolio of properties. This hybrid role offers both flexibility and room for growth within a collaborative, detail-driven environment.

What You’ll Do as the Staff Accountant

General Accounting

• Manage full-cycle accounting for in-house and third-party managed real estate portfolios
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end accruals; analyze variances against budget
• Maintain the general ledger and reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Process monthly commercial billing and annual reconciliations
• Post monthly bank reconciliations and ensure timely correction of outstanding items
• Maintain amortization and depreciation schedules
• Collaborate with the property management team on budgets, lease adjustments, and reconciliations
• Support vendor audits and assist with 1099 preparation
• Provide documentation for external audits and prepare monthly/quarterly financial statements

Accounts Payable (AP)

• Review and process vendor invoices with attention to policy compliance
• Resolve vendor discrepancies and ensure timely payments
• Allocate expenses accurately across properties and general ledger accounts
• Reconcile accounts payable, including intercompany payables

Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Generate and issue invoices for intercompany and third-party entities
• Apply receipts to invoices and maintain accurate ledger posting
• Monitor aging reports and coordinate collections with property managers
• Reconcile AR accounts including intercompany receivables and tenant ledgers

Process Improvement

• Help develop and enforce internal controls
• Identify opportunities to streamline AP/AR workflows
• Leverage technology to improve property-level accounting operations

What You Bring as the Staff Accountant

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Yardi (required) and general ledger/ERP systems
• Sound understanding of accounting principles in a real estate context
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and problem-solve independently

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• A different degree with equivalent work experience will be considered
• 1–3 years of property accounting experience (retail, office, or mixed-use preferred)
