Payroll Specialist – Entry-Level Opportunity | On-Site | Nonprofit Organization

I’m working on a Payroll Specialist opening for one of my nonprofit clients in the greater Springfield area. This is a rare opportunity to get your foot in the door with a mission-driven organization that offers exceptional benefits, a positive team culture, and full training. You do not need prior payroll experience for this Payroll Specialist role – they have well-documented procedures in place and a supportive team ready to train the right person.

Position: Payroll Specialist
Location: On-site in Springfield, MA
Pay: $22–$24/hour (temp-to-hire)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, flexible 7:30–9:00 AM start

What You’ll Be Doing as a Payroll Specialist:

• Weekly payroll processing for two populations: internal employees (approx. 415) and members placed in community jobs

• Reviewing and approving timesheets in ADP

• Managing paper timesheets and processing data for approx. 100 members

• Handling wage garnishments and verifying PTO approvals

• Collaborating with the payroll team and supporting ad-hoc projects as needed

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks

• Friendly and collaborative personality – someone who thrives in a team environment

• Willingness to learn – payroll experience is not required

• Spanish-speaking is a plus, but not required

• Must be comfortable working onsite
