Plant Controller
$120,000-$140,000
Our client is looking for a detail oriented and motivated Plant Controller in the Bloomingdale area to lead their accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of their financial reporting. The Plant Controller ensures the accuracy of financial data, supports strategic decision-making, and leads the accounting team to maintain efficient and effective financial processes. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, technical accounting expertise, and a strategic mindset.
Responsibilities for the Plant Controller
- Oversee accurate and timely month-end close and related tasks.
- Review reconciliations and GL balances for GAAP and policy compliance.
- Compile KPIs for management on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Review and prepare journal entries for cost allocations.
- Support and maintain the standard cost system.
- Review inventory adjustments, perform reconciliations, and lead quarterly counts.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting for the plant.
- Analyze variances in labor, materials, pricing, yields, and overhead.
- Identify and resolve accounting issues.
- Drive process improvements and support business accounting needs.
- Assist with reporting tool development and process enhancements.
- Investigate and resolve account discrepancies.
- Manage large data sets and deliver under tight deadlines.
- Prepare ad hoc reports as needed.
Experience for the Plant Controller
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA preferred)
- Minimum of 7+ years General Accounting experience with a solid understanding and application of GAAP required
- 2+ years in a standard cost manufacturing environment with costing analysis
- 2+ years experience supervising direct report
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good analytical and computer skills required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, look ups, databases and ERP Accounting systems.
- Must have the ability to make decisions, appear for work on time, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept constructive criticism.
- Strong attention to detail and a desire to assume new responsibilities.
- Organization, attention to detail and the ability to analyze data.
